Only a 20-minute drive south from Parksville centre — Flamingo House Spa is the closest authentic Japanese head spa to your hometown.
Parksville is the anchor of the Oceanside region — home to the famous sandy expanse of Rathtrevor Beach, the family-friendly Parksville Community Park, and a summer rhythm that revolves around the tide and the boardwalk. It's a town that attracts retirees, young families, and a steady stream of seasonal visitors from across the Island and beyond. With Qualicum Beach just up the road and the Coombs market a favourite weekend stop, the area has plenty of local flavour.
What it hasn't had — until now, for practical purposes — is an authentic Japanese head spa. There's no dedicated head spa in Parksville or Qualicum Beach. Flamingo House Spa in Nanaimo has become the closest option for Oceanside residents who've discovered the head spa experience (often through social media) and want to try it without driving all the way to Victoria or Vancouver.
Our Parksville visitors tend to book longer sessions — the 90-minute Royal Roots Experience is disproportionately popular among guests driving down from the Oceanside area, which makes sense: if you're making the 20-minute trip each way, you want the full ritual. We also see a noticeable number of mother-daughter pairs and groups of friends who make a joint visit part of a Parksville staycation or girls' day out, booking couples sessions or staggered appointments back to back.
Parksville guests gravitate toward our longer sessions, and many combine services to make the drive count. The 90-minute Royal Roots Experience is the most-booked tier from the Oceanside area, often paired with a lash lift or brow lamination. We're a relaxation studio — every session is built around helping you unwind, with aromatherapy, a warm welcome with chocolate and beverage, and a charm gift included.

For a more relaxed drive, the scenic 19A (Island Highway) hugs the coastline and passes through Lantzville. Exit at Northfield Road and continue to 951 Dufferin Street — our home-based studio has free on-site parking.
Parksville residents are spoiled for outdoor beauty — the beach, the trails, the mountain views. What our studio offers is something harder to find on the mid-Island: a completely indoor, screen-free, quiet sensory experience designed around your head and scalp. No waves, no wind, no sunscreen — just a warm, dimly lit treatment room, a reclined position, and 30 to 90 minutes of focused relaxation.
Several Parksville regulars have told us they plan their visit around the seasons — a head spa in the rainy winter months when the beach isn't calling, or as a cool-down after a busy summer of hosting visiting family. It's become a year-round wellness ritual for a growing number of Oceanside locals.
